GLO-BUS Best Business Strategy Simulation Competition - All-world 5th placeGLO-BUS is an online fully-automated business simulation game which helps business students by training them to devise successful business strategies. It was developed in 2008 to help educate students in the field of Business Strategy focusing on competitive strategy in a truly global market arena. GLO-BUS is a fully-automated business simulation game that focuses on competition. The game is enormously popular amongst undergraduates and MBA students of other international universities as well, and encourages a high level of professional conduct in decision making and strategy planning.
Microsoft Imagine Cup 2012 Sri Lanka Finals - Second PlaceSri Lanka, April 18, 2012— On conclusion of the Microsoft Imagine Cup competition held at SLIIT in Malabe, Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) , the pioneer in offering internal British degree programmes in Sri Lanka, were adjudged as first runner up. The competition was aimed at bringing out the best in the student’s creativity and the use of technology to create solutions that transform day to day problems of the world.
e-swabhimani 2011 AwardSheran Corera emerged victorious at the 3rd annual e-Swabimani award gala of 2011. Sheran won this award for his entry to the e-Science & Technology category. He received his e-Swabimani award at a colourful ceremony presided over by the Hon. Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and other distinguished guests including Secretary to the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunga and senior ICTA officials.
NBQSA 2011 - Gold awardThe Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) struck gold for the third consecutive year at the National Best Quality Software Awards 2011. The event, hosted at Galadari hotel, Colombo saw the participation of distinguished IT professionals and reputed academics from both Sri Lanka and overseas. Microsoft Imagine Cup 2011 Sri Lanka Finals - Second Place“V-Lab (Virtual Lab)”, a software application developed by team “CR-Coderzs” of Informatics Institute of Technology emerged First Runner Up in the Software Design Category in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2011 Sri Lanka Finals held on 27th April 2011.
The Microsoft Imagine Cup is the world’s premier student technology competition.
Motorola Inter-University Enterprise Mobility Application Software Development Competition (2010) - Third Place“i-tiMOTO”, a mobile software application developed by a group of students of Informatics Institute of Technology won third place at the Motorola Inter-University Enterprise Mobility Application Software Development Competition – 2010, which was held at the School of Computing, University of Colombo, on 6th December 2010.
The project “i-tiMOTO” is a Sustainable Commercial Purpose Forest Management System aimed at achieving Environmental Sustainability.
NBQSA 2010 - Gold awardThe 12th Annual National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition organized by the British Computer Society (BCS) Sri Lanka, was held at Galadari Hotel on 1st October 2010, amidst a distinguished audience comprising of the cream of the IT professionals in the country.Marking a milestone, Mohamed Hamzeen, a student of Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) won the Gold award in the tertiary category.
NBQSA 2009 - Gold & Bronze medalsMarking a milestone in the National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA), Lahiru Lakmal Priyadarshana, a student of Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), won the Gold award in the tertiary category as well as the award for the Best Product developed using Open Source Tools for his iDisplay project. The latter was introduced for the first time at NBQSA this year. Amani Soysa, also a student of IIT, was awarded the Bronze award for her Chord A Tune project.
The Google Online Marketing Challenge - 2009The Google Online Marketing Challenge was a great hands-on exercise for undergraduate students who engaged in the interactive marketing module. Students of Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) formed groups and engaged in this challenge with the guidance of the lecturers at IIT. The goal for students was effective online marketing via sound marketing analysis to optimize, manage and update a Google AdWords campaign.
Imagine Cup and the Team EnterpriseIt was in the beginning of January that we thought of doing something new, other than the usual academic work. We thought of competing for some breathtaking gifts to make the boring second semester more interesting.
Imagine Cup was on line and we were asked to participate through the institute. We teamed up, Sandaruwan, Keshan, Kasun and myself.
NBQSA 2005 - Silver medalThe National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) competition is an annual event organized by the British Computer Society Sri Lanka (BCSSL) Section. The primary objective is to recognise achievements of individuals & organisations in Sri Lanka who have achieved very high standards in the development of ICT applications. Entries for each category is judged by a panel of eminent academics and industry personnel to choose the winners.
