20 Years of ServiceSri Lanka has gone through many upheavals in its recent past. There existed a period when the state universities were closed for very long periods due to reasons beyond the control of the university authorities. It was during these tumultuous days that Dr Gamini Wickramsinghe, Managing Director of Informatics Pvt (Ltd) approached the then Minister of Education Mr Lalith Athulathmudali, a scholar from Oxford University, UK, with the aim of bringing British internal degree programmes to Sri Lanka.

IIT Presents Research Paper at T4E'09 PDF Print E-mail

Isuru Perera and Hiranya Mudunkotuwa, students at Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) - Sri Lanka, were honoured to have been the only representatives from Sri Lanka to be given the opportunity to present a paper at this year's International Workshop on Technology for Education (T4E'09) held in Bangalore - India, from August 4 to 6 2009.

The workshop was held with the aim of bringing together leading researchers to present their research results and debate future research in the use of technology to improve the quality of education and make education more widely accessible.

IIT Wins International Awards PDF Print E-mail

Lahiru Lakmal Priyadarshana, a student of Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), won the Gold Award in the Tertiary Category as well as the award for the Best Product developed using Open Source Tools for his iDisplay project. The latter was introduced for the first time at NBQSA. Amani Soysa, also a student of IIT, was awarded the Bronze for her Chord A Tune Project. Lahiru and Amani won these awards competing with the cream of software engineering students from more than five state universities and private institutes.
