Intelligent Airport System To Improve Passenger Services

Abstract

The prime objective of all the stake holders at an airport should be able to cater to the passenger satisfaction by being attractive and resilient 24 x 7 in the demanding service while ensuring cost effectiveness. In order to achieve this cause, many airports have implemented isolated solutions in improving passenger services. While these solutions may improve specific processes or functions they are not holistic enough. Passengers will feel the limits and differences most if some specific functions meet their expectations while others not. So the need of the hour is to create a unified, integrated and ready to use platform to assist airports to provide better services for the passengers. The aim of this paper is to review selected data mining techniques that can be integrated in to such system. Entities such as airlines, airport retails sector and the airport itself is considered for this and the data mining techniques that can be applied to these entities to improve passenger services such as passenger profiling, segmentation and association rule mining are discussed.
