The Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) is set to bring VisioNEX 2026, Galle’s first inter-school hackathon and technology exhibition, to the Galle Town Hall on 31 July 2026.
Organised under the theme “Next Tech Wizards – Passion for Tech, Vision for Future,” VisioNEX provides young innovators with a platform to demonstrate their creativity, technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities through practical technology-driven solutions.
The event will bring together school students, educators, technology enthusiasts and members of the public for a day of innovation, competition and discovery.
The VisioNEX Innovation Exhibition will be held from 10.00 AM to 2.00 PM, giving visitors the opportunity to explore innovative student projects and experience emerging technologies.
Students will present solutions developed through teamwork, research and creative thinking, demonstrating how technology can be used to address real-world challenges.
Visitors will be able to interact with the young innovators, learn more about their projects and witness the potential of Sri Lanka’s next generation of technology professionals.
The event will continue with the Hackathon Finale and Awards Ceremony from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM.
Finalist teams will present their solutions before a panel, showcasing their ability to develop, communicate and defend their ideas. The most outstanding teams will be recognised for their innovation, technical execution, teamwork and overall impact.
The hackathon is designed not only as a competition but also as an opportunity for students to strengthen essential future-ready skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, communication and digital problem-solving.
Through VisioNEX 2026, IIT aims to expand access to technology education and create more opportunities for school students in Galle and the Southern Province.
The event reflects IIT’s commitment to nurturing young talent, encouraging innovation and inspiring students to explore future academic and career pathways in computing, artificial intelligence, software engineering, data science, business and other technology-related disciplines.
