Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), Sri Lanka’s leader in British higher education and a premier institution for IT and Business studies, successfully hosted IIT Career Day 2025 on the 25th of March at the BMICH. This exciting event brought together IIT students and top companies, creating invaluable opportunities for career placements and internships.
A distinctive feature of IIT’s degree programs is the compulsory 1-year industry placement that all students complete in their third year. This hands-on experience ensures that students not only gain practical skills but also seamlessly transition into the workforce. IIT Career Day is a key part of this process, offering students a chance to connect with leading companies, explore career options, and secure placements in their preferred organizations.
IIT Career Day 2025 featured over 65 top companies, representing Sri Lanka’s best in IT and business. From multinational corporations to innovative local startups, these companies sought talented IIT students to join their teams. Many of these organizations are pioneers in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Blockchain, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), and 5G. This diverse range of industries allowed IIT students to explore careers in the latest technological fields in keeping with industry 5.0 or pursue roles in non-ICT sectors like business management.
A highlight of IIT Career Day is the chance for students to attend multiple interviews with different companies in one place. This provides students the flexibility to explore various career options and choose the organization that best aligns with their ambitions. Many students who excel during their internships are offered full-time positions after graduation, making IIT Career Day a direct gateway to success.
