BSc (Hons) Business Data Analytics

The modern business organization and its consumers generate vast amounts of data, given that information technology and social media are pervasive. Organisations use these data for business decision making and operational optimisation in many ways. This has led to the emergence of the field of business data analytics. In this BSc (Honours) Business Data Analytics course students learn how organisations and its customers generate, store and analyse these data for the benefit of the business.

It has a strong focus towards defining the data analytics requirement of a business, to support organizational decision making and will equip the students with data analytics, forecasting, data visualization, decision making and consultancy skills. The course will provide the students with professional skills and values that will enable them to become a key player in the global business environment as well.

Course Outline

This course has been designed to:

  • Provide students with knowledge of the relevant fundamental principles and technologies that underpin the disciplines of Business Management, Data Science, and Information Systems.
  • Initiate students into the selection and application of cutting-edge Data Science and Information Systems techniques and tools to collect, store, prepare, analyse and visualise business data.
  • Thereby help students learn the theories and acquire the skills required for Business Data Analytics and Decision Making from all the above three disciplines.
  • Raise aspirations through transformative learning including a year of work experience and work-based simulations.

Entry Requirements

Students should obtain a minimum of 3 passes at the GCE Advanced Level or Foundation Certificate in Higher Education and obtain a minimum of 6 passes in the GCE Ordinary Level with Credit passes in English & Mathematics.
