15 September 2026 marked the beginning of a new academic journey for the latest Foundation Batch at the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), Sri Lanka.
IIT officially welcomed students joining the September 2026 Foundation Intake on 15 September 2026, bringing together the newest members of the IIT student community as they took their first step towards higher education.
The start of a new intake represents much more than the beginning of an academic calendar. For Foundation students, it is the beginning of a transition into higher education, new learning experiences, new friendships and the development of skills that will support their future academic and professional journeys.
The September 2026 Foundation Batch brings together students with different ambitions and future career goals under one IIT community.
The Foundation stage provides students with an opportunity to strengthen their academic knowledge, develop essential learning skills and prepare themselves for progression into undergraduate-level study.
As students begin their time at IIT, they will also become part of a broader environment that encourages collaboration, creativity, technology, problem-solving and personal development.
The 15 September welcome marked an important milestone for students as they began adapting to university-level learning and discovering the opportunities available throughout their journey at IIT.
For many students, Foundation is the bridge between school education and their future degree pathway.
This period gives students the opportunity to build confidence in independent learning while gaining the academic and practical foundation required for the next stage of their education.
Beyond academic development, the IIT experience provides opportunities for students to connect with their peers, participate in student activities and become part of a diverse learning community.
The September 2026 cohort now begins that journey together.
IIT extends a warm welcome to every student joining the Foundation Batch – September 2026.
The journey ahead will bring new challenges, experiences, friendships and opportunities to grow. As this new chapter begins, IIT looks forward to seeing each student develop their potential and take their next steps towards their future.
Welcome to IIT. Welcome to the September 2026 Foundation Batch.
