IIT Makes History for Sri Lanka — Won First Place at InnoServe Awards 2025 in Taiwan! 🇱🇰
The InnoServe Awards, Asia’s leading university innovation competition, continues to inspire thousands of young innovators to design impactful digital solutions that address real-world challenges. With over 5,000 projects submitted from 11 countries, this prestigious platform celebrates technical excellence, creativity, and social responsibility among university students.
This year, the 2nd year SDGP team from the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT Campus) achieved a remarkable victory, earning first place for their pioneering project NOVALITH®, the Smart Pregnancy Belt.
Team NOVALITH® impressed judges with their creative application of technology in maternal healthcare, showcasing a product with the potential for lasting social impact. Originally conceptualized within the students’ Software Development Group Project (SDGP) module, the innovation exemplifies how academic learning at IIT transforms into meaningful, real-world solutions.
The Smart Pregnancy Belt is an innovative digital health solution designed to support maternal well-being through continuous and intelligent monitoring. By leveraging sensor technology, AI-driven insights, and mobile connectivity, the system aims to provide early alerts and real-time data that can help ensure safer pregnancies and better health outcomes for mothers and babies alike.
This innovation embodies IIT’s commitment to solving global health challenges through cutting-edge research and technology-driven design, reinforcing the power of student-led innovation in transforming lives.
Standing shoulder to shoulder with top universities from across Asia and beyond, IIT’s Team Novalith showcased technical mastery, creativity, and problem-solving excellence. Their project’s selection as First among 11 finalist teams underscores the team’s ability to compete and triumph at the highest international level.
This achievement not only celebrates the talent and perseverance of IIT students but also reflects the quality of mentorship, research culture, and academic rigor fostered within the institute.
