IIT students make Sri Lanka proud by winning 2 merit awards at APICTA 2022 🏅 🏅

IIT proudly congratulates Tehara Perera, Thaylan Praveen, Kanishka Hewageegana and Hamdan Mohideen for winning Merit Awards at the APICTA 2022, which was held in Islamabad, Pakistan from the 7th to 11th of December 2022. Representing IIT as well as the nation, our students were successful to secure Merit Awards with scores of more than 95% for the respective projects submitted at APICTA 2022. The students competed with 15 other economies in the Asia Pacific region and were evaluated by international judges.

 

The project Airplate – A platform To Reduce International Catering Wasta in Airlines Through Data, Insight and Actions which was done by Tehara Perera final year BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems student won the Merit award under Student – Tertiary Technology Category. This project was supervised by Ms. Abarnah Kirupananda, Senior Lecturer at the Business School of IIT.

Planet Hunters, an application implemented by Thaylan Praveen, Kanishka Hewageegana and Hamdan Mohideen, the third year students of BSc (Hons) Artificial Intelligence and Data Science won the Merit award under Student – Tertiary Applications category. This project was supervised by Mr. Torin Wirasingha, lecturer at the School of Computing at IIT.
